was founded in 1952 by the Resolution of Polish Academy of Sciences and is one of the most important institute involved in human research. Topics of our researches have interdisciplinary character and are basically focused on three fields of science: human biology, medical sciences and social sciences.

For more than twenty years, the main speciality of the Institute have been

The research project "Lifestyle factors and menstrual cycle hormone levels" investigates the relationship between various lifestyle factors and levels of progesterone and 17 beta-estradiol. In particular, we focus on how diet, physical activity, psychological stress and temperament affect the level of secretion of these hormones during the menstrual cycle. It also assesses the changes of cortisol (stress hormone) in response to psychological stress experienced in everyday women's life.
