Location

image 004Wroclaw, the fourth largest city in Poland is situated on the Odra river in Southwest Poland. With its 12 islands and 112 bridges it is often called „The Venice of the North” Of the  12 islands, Piasek and Ostrów Tumski are considered the most beautiful and it is well worth the walk to see them after sunset. The splendid Gothic cathedral and other historic buildings are illuminated to create an exceptional, romantic atmosphere. If you are lucky enough you will even see the lamplighter who lights the antique gas street lamps every evening.

image 005 Entertainment and culture mix in the Old Town and Main Market or "Rynek" districts. Here museums, galleries and theaters are neighbors to a number of restaurants, pubs and music clubs. All are located in beautiful buildings which date as far back as the thirteenth century. Adjoining the Main Market is the equally beautiful Salt Market where splendid architecture is enriched by the colorful  flower market. In the neighborhood too, you will find a unique monument that stands on Stare Jatki Street. The street name comes from the slaughterhouses that were located there from the thirteenth century onward, and the monument to the animals is probably the most frequently photographed place in Wroclaw.

The venue of the Conference is located in the building of Law and Administration Department in the University Quarter. This lively area is situated between the Main Market and Odra River and dominated by the eighteenth century building of University, which was founded by Austrian Emperor Leopold in 1702. When visiting don't forget to see Aula Leopoldina - named after its founder. The magnificent baroque hall has many beautiful sculptures and frescoes. You can also climb the stairs and visit Mathematician's Tower to admire a panoramic view of the city.
